Laser therapy has an anti-inflammatory, regenerative and bio-stimulating effect on pain. The word “laser” indicates an amplification of light based on the stimulated emission of electromagnetic radiation (Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation). It stimulates the collagen synthesis helping the wound healing process, reducing pain and swelling, thinning scared tissues and raising immunity.
Laser therapy in treating skeletomuscular disorders
Clinical efficiency of the laser, especially in treating diseases has been proven. The laser can be used on the following:
– painful trigger-points or points sensitive to pain
– directly on the place of damage
– acupressure points
– nerve roots and/or nerve fibres
The main indications for laser application are the following:
– soft tissue injuries, including inflammatory and traumatic injuries (sprains, tendinopathy and hematomas react very favourably to laser therapy)
– pain relief, including acute, i.e. post-operational pain, and especially with chronically painful syndromes and neuralgia
– wound healing
– arthritic conditions of various etiology, especially the ones including the smaller joints of the arms and/or feet
